DAY 1. MADRID AIRPORT – LA RIOJA:
Arrival at the Airport and transfer to the hotel in Logroño, check in at the hotel in Logroño. You will enjoy some free time.
DAY 2. LOGROÑO / BRIONES:
After breakfast a local guide will pick we up for a tour through Logroño with a local guide, a city rich in history and traditions which have been preserved since the Middle Ages. The Pilgrim’s Route to Santiago de Compostela made this one of the most important towns on the route, leaving an interesting monumental legacy closely linked to the traditional passing of the pilgrims. The historic Centre has significant cultural sites, such as the Cathedral of Santa María la Redonda (entrance included), whose baroque towers rise above the Market square. At the end of the tour we can enjoy some free time to walk around Laurel Street, once there we can taste the traditional pintxos and local wines. After a lunch by the customer, we will continue our journey to Briones, ancient fortress city, one of the most beautiful and monumental towns of La Rioja. It has been declared a Historic-Artistic site; we can walk around its cobblestone streets and the stately homes. Our route continues with a visit to a Wine Culture Museum (included) which offers a walk through the history and culture of wine. Accommodation at the hotel in Logroño.
DAY 3. SONSIERRA REGION (BRIÑAS, SAN VICENTE DE LA SONSIERRA, ÁBALOS) / NÁJERA:
After the breakfast at the Hotel we will enjoy the experience visiting the Ebro Region’s River left bank. Some of the towns do not exceed 1.000 inhabitants, surrounded by vineyards. Our first stop would be at Briñas. The noble houses, the Plaza Mayor fountain and the Asunción church are some of this town highlights. From here we move to San Vicente de la Sonsierra, it is located in a high hill where we could contemplate the area wonderful views. On this hill we can see the Castle (s.XII) that still preserves its walls (entrance included), the tribute tower and the clock tower. We may also visit Santa María church (entrance included). We continue our journey to Ábalos, has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site.
We can walk around its medieval streets with coat of arms in the houses. The Palacio de los Marqueses de Legarda (entrance included) and San Esteban de Protomártir church are the highlights of this beautiful town. Lunch by the customer and in the afternoon, we’ll visit the Santa María de la Real Monastery in Nájera (entrance included), the Navarre Kings Pantheon with the ornamental beauty of the cloister of the Caballeros (knights), so-called because of the great many nobles buried here. Then we return to Logroño. Accommodation at the hotel.
DAY 4. LAGUARDIA, HARO:
Breakfast at the Hotel and trip towards Laguardia, named after its strategic location against Castile in the middle Ages. Santa Maria de los Reyes church, the Abacial Tower, and the wine cellars are the main points of interest. To finish our journey we visit Haro, it has an important architectural heritage, including the main entrance of the Santo Tomás Church (entrance included), Nuestra Señora de la Vega Basilica (entrance included), numerous palaces, and the old town, which was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1975. We have the opportunity to walk through some of the multiple wine cellars with tasting in this town, followed by a tasting. Return to Logroño, lunch by the costumer and free time for the rest of the afternoon. Accommodation at hotel in Logroño.
DAY 5. LA RIOJA – MADRID AIRPORT:
Breakfast at the Hotel and transfer to the departure airport. End of the tour and our Services.
